Scientific name

Its scientific name is derived from "sikalis," "sukallis," or "sukalis" in Greek meaning small, and "citrinus" or "citrus" in Latin meaning lemon-yellow or yellow like the citrus fruit stone. Hence, it translates to "Small lemon-yellow bird" or "Small bird with a citrus-colored yellow hue."

Features

• Measures between 11 and 12 inches in length, weighing between 10.7 and 12.9 grams.
• Males have a lemon-yellow top of the head, olive back with streaks; yellowish breast darker than the belly, which is bright yellow. Dark brown tail with yellow outer feathers. The final two-thirds of lateral tail feathers are white. Wings are dark brown edged in yellow.
